Slovenia.

Slovenia, I live here now.

Hey all my friends in the USA and Germany and all over. Time to educate yourselves on the beautiful country i now live in! Which most of you wouldnt be able to locate on a map or probably have never heard of

I live in Ljubljana, Slovenia .. i am sure 99% of you can not pronounce it so it basically is said like this lyoo-BLYAH-nah Its the capital of Slovenia (a country of only around 2 million people. The city only has about 250,000 people in it and its the biggest one in the country followed by Maribor, Slovenia. Not much but many people living here are also from Balkan countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

Many refugees came to Slovenia during the Balkan wars following the break of of the communist/socialistic state of Yugoslavia. But Slovenia is different. There wasnt much fighting and more foreingers dies in the wars then Slovenians. Slovenia used to be part of the The Austro Hungarian Empire and many older people speak German while many youger people her speak English now since you have to learn it. Good thing i kind of know both.

Slovenia is an ridiculously beautiful country and per land mass is the second most forested (tree coverage) in Europe. The Country is very small but is the only one in Europe that falls in the location where the 4 major european geographic areas converge (the Alps, the Dinarides, the Pannonian Plain, and the Mediterranean) So 30 minutes you could be skiing and drive 30 more minutes and you are chillin on a sunny beach.

Slovenia is the first former communist state to enter the Eurozone and the most successful south slavic state economically.

The slovenian flag looks like the Russian flag except it has the Slovene seal on it. These colors are considered "pan Slavic" and is why russia, croatia, serbia and the Czech Rebublic have these colored flags, which is also very interesting considering the guy who made the Russian flag (before the soviet union) made it these colors because he liked france and was copying them.

People here have different feeling about being considered slavic and the rest of former yugoslavia also is in debate with them selves weather Slovenes are true Slavs but they are and speak a Slavic language (which is are as shit btw) but also take from Italian and German.

Slovenia. the more you know.

Headed to Berlin and First post!

Headed to Berlin!

We are currently on our way via bus to Berlin! Have not even chosen which hotel we are staying in tonight though.

The two of us are here to see the city and visit the Embassies of our countries regarding my visa for other countries here to continue my travels here in Europe! But mostly for Jolanda's passport so that means we will be traveling outside of the EU soon, can any of you guess where? :P

We are excited and will share our experience with you here in a blog post and will obviously be returning in a few weeks back to Berlin.
